The SAU 67 Opening plan for 21-22 has been posted to the SAU 67 School Board webpage and can be assessed here.
This is a DRAFT plan and it will be discussed and voted on at an SAU 67 School Board meeting to be held on Thursday, August 19 at 6:00 pm in the BHS auditorium. This meeting will have a google meet option and there will be times of public comment. Public comment can be submitted in advance using the back2school@SAU67.org email address. This address sends all comments to all school board members in both districts and also to principals and SAU administrators.
The SAU Board will need to discuss, and amend and adopt the proposed plan and also make a decision on what level to open schools in. Indoor mask usage is the largest decision and the draft plan gives some options for the board to consider. This will most likely be the area of greatest discussion and I urge our community to be respectful of different perspectives as that issue is discussed and debated.
This last Wednesday, DHHS released new guidance containing a Matrix about mask usage that would take into account local community transmission levels and school impacts. Adopting this matrix locally is one of the options presented. Presently local transmission is rated in the substantial range and community vaccination rates are 52% for Dunbarton and 63.4% for Bow.
Two other areas that should be looked at closely are the encouragement to stay home when sick, even with minor symptoms, and Remote Instruction Day procedures. The DHHS guidance addresses the exclusion algorithm and there is a separate set of linked procedures fo weather related remote instruction.
