TOWN OF DUNBARTON
BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MINUTES OF MEETING
Feb. 28, 2002
Present: J.R. Swindlehurst, Chair
Chuck Graybill
Les Hammond
Janice VandeBogart, Town Administrator
7:00 p.m. The Board interviewed candidates for the Secretary to the Building Dept.
7:20 p.m. The Board visited Al Vaal
The Board presented the first issue of the Town Report to Al Vaal, since it was dedicated to him.
7:40 p.m. Other Business:
Chuck suggested that we have Town counsel at the Town Meeting to address any potential legal issues regarding the warrants. Les disagreed since he indicated that any changes that are illegal cannot be implemented. A discussion ensued about the advisability of having the Town's legal counsel at the Town Meeting. J.R. requested that Fred Mullen, Town Moderator, attend next week's meeting.
Bruce Vaal came in to ask the Board if they wanted to interview some other candidates who had applied for the Building Dept. Secretary position. The Board agreed that it was a good idea.
The Board discussed the water testing results at the proposed subdivision on Weston Rd. The Board discussed what the next step should be and the Town's potential liability. J.R. suggested that we have a salt contamination policy, to which Les agreed. J.R. suggested that the wells in the subdivision be required to be built in such a way to minimize contamination, i.e., either grouted or sealed, so that surface water cannot get in the wells. Bruce thought that adding an ordinance to that effect would require a 60 day posting.
Janice mentioned Lori Davis' interest in being appointed as an alternate member of the Planning Board.
Chuck asked J.R. about whether we should have legal counsel at the Town Meeting. J.R. thinks we should and will call Charlie, the Town's legal counsel and ask its advisability.
9:00 p.m. J.R. motioned, which Chuck seconded, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried.
