The Board discussed safety issues in Town, including on Everett Road.

Janice gave the contract to the Board for the security system at the Transfer Station. Janice briefed the Board on Andrea Douglas’ request for the Town to pay half of the invoice to have the fire alarm system tested at the library. Janice indicated she had discussed this with J. R. and had informed Andrea that the Town would not pay towards this cost.

7:30 pm, Fred Mullen: Kuncanowet Town Forest Committee business:

Prior to discussing the above, a discussion on the state tax and corporate dissolution fee to the purchase of the Nasikas property took place, which could approach $350,000.

Fred Mullen indicated that Laura Pfister, of the Office of State Planning, viewed the Town Forest with Fred. Ms. Pfister indicated that the boundaries are unmarked and the Town needed to have them marked. Fred received estimates to establish the boundaries, by Richard Bartlett and Associates, as follows:

1 Flagging of the Town Line: $12,395

2. Blazing and painting the Town Line: $15,095

Les inquired as to whether the Town Forest Committee would be willing to pay for this expense and asked to have the Committee attend a Selectmen’s Board meeting. It was also suggested that Fred attend a Weare Selectmen’s Board meeting to ask if the Town of Weare would be willing to chip in. Janice will call to schedule an appointment for Fred.

8:l5 pm Bruce Vaal, Building Inspector’s Budget

Bruce reviewed the proposed 2002 budget (see attached) Bruce agreed to poll surrounding towns to see if our fees are comparable.

A discussion on the proposed restaurant / convenience store/gas station at Page’s Corner ensued.

Janice reviewed the department budgets with the Board. It was the decision of the Board not to include a warrant article to make the position of Town Clerk a full time position.

9:45 pm Chuck motioned, which was seconded by Les, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried.
