TOWN OF DUNBARTON

                                                                BOARD OF SELECTMEN

                                                                                May 31, 2001

Present:  J.R. Swindlehurst, Chair

                Chuck Graybill

                Les Hammond

Janice Van de Bogart, Town Administrator

7:00 p.m.  Other Business:     A discussion about the policy on construction on Class VI roads ensued.

Janice presented the amended agreement with Dollard and Associates for the Board's signatures.  Mr. Dollard initialled the changes made previously by the Board.

Les made a motion that J.R. be appointed to the Joint Loss Management Committee, which was seconded by Chuck.  Vote was in the affirmative.

Janice indicated that a space is open on the Historical Awareness Committee and the Committee is looking for suggestions from the Board.

Janice discussed the new town signs, which will be up within a couple of weeks.  The cemetery trustees are getting prices on cemetery signs.

7:35 p.m. -- Shawn Hickey -- came in to discuss Class VI roads -- he is looking at a lot on Guinea Rd (a class VI road).  He inquired about what is needed to upgrade to a Class V road.  The Board indicated that the road needs to be 24 feet wide plus shoulders, and include gravel.  The Board needs to decide whether to allow building, even after bringing the road up to Class V standards.

7:55 p.m. -- Jeff Nelson, Police Chief -- came in to discuss a memo on job rates for police special duty.  He recommended a rate of $32/hour without the use of a cruiser and $40/hour with the use of a cruiser.  He felt the flat $40/hour approved by the Board last week was too high to be competitive.

Jeff also discussed proposed ordinances regarding drinking alcohol in public places, prohibiting  motor vehicles on certain town property, camping, noise  and trespassing offenses, including penalties.

Jeff updated the Board on Mark Desmaris.  He was arrested and is out on bail, relating to an incident at Gorham Pond on 5/20/01.

8:20 p.m.  -- Les made a motion, which was seconded by Chuck, to go into nonpublic session.  A discussion of a violation of personnel policy was discussed.

8:45 p.m. -- Chuck made a motion, which was seconded by Les, to come out of nonpublic session.

8:50 -- Jan Van de Bogart, Road Agent -- came in to discuss the tree cutting bids for Robert Rogers Rd.  Jan recommended Precision Timber Harvesting.  J.R. made a motion, which was seconded by Chuck.  Les abstained from the vote.  The motion included providing certificate of insurance and the inclusion of the tree on the town common.

9:00 p.m.  Chuck made a motion, which was seconded by Les, to adjourn the meeting.
