TOWN OF DUNBARTON BOARD OF SELECTMEN May 3, 2001 Present: J.R. Swindlehurst, Chair Chuck Graybill Les Hammond Janice Van de Bogart, Town Administrator 7:00 p.m. Selectmen met at the Historical Society with Wendy and Michael Daley to view the horse drawn hearse. The Board agreed to assist in finding a place to store the hearse to avoid it getting lost. The Board will work together with the Society to preserve it. The Board was pleased at how much was left of the hearse the whole frame was there. 7:45 p.m. Bill Ruwell, Recreation Commission: the present 5 members plan on continuing. Terri Franceour is interested in coordinating a volunteer effort for the kids over the summer, with Joyce Etheredges assistance. The hope is to create a limited summer program this summer with a full summer program next summer. Bill indicated that this years Easter egg hunt was the most well attended ever with between 150-175 children. 8:10 p.m. Chuck Williamson: Recycling Committee to report back on baler bids. Recycling Equipment Corp., was chosen although this bid was $300 more than the lowest bid, but this was a heavier duty baler. This is the same model that the Town has now. Chuck indicated that we need to finish the application with the state, after which the state will inspect the transfer station and report back to their Board of Directors. The next meeting will be in mid July. The Committee is researching the best method to crush glass. Chuck indicated that the Town can make money recycling plastics, and is reviewing the possibilities. Chuck made a motion that the Board accept the Recycling Committees recommendation, which was seconded by Les, the following: one new Philadelphia Tramrail Model 3400hd High Density Super Heavy-duty Downstroke Baler for $9,390. 8:40 p.m. Other Business: Fines for exceeding weight limits, which is preceded by a verbal warning, then a written copy. Les made a motion to accept policies and procedures developed by the Police Chief and road agent, which was seconded by Chuck. Janice also discussed the forthcoming tree trimming, for which the feedback from residents has been favorable. 8:50 p.m. Police Chief Jeff Nelson Town Ordinance for loose dogs - A written warning would be adequate, especially since we dont have the facilities to impound dogs. He indicated that the Town may want to consider a temporary cage for dogs in the future. John Turner submitted a recommendation for the upstairs of the town hall.
