MASTER PLAN DISCUSSION

1.        Steering Committee will be needed.  (Will include members from the Planning Board)

2.        The Contractor will hold visioning sessions.

3.        Will need data collection (mail surveys or door to door)

4.     Will need a Build Out Study – This is a crucial part of the plan.

The Board explained to the General Public present what the Master Plan means and why the Town needs to update the existing Master Plan.  The Master Plan is used for defense in court when needed.  The “scheme” of the Town has to be contemporary.

The Board pointed out that the Master Plan is not a Zoning Ordinance, it is only a course of recommended action for the Town.

Some of the “hot” issues will be as follows:

                Traffic

                Commercial areas

                Low Income Housing

                Multi-Family Housing

The closing date for the submittal of bids for the Master Plan is May 19, 2003, just two days before the next scheduled Planning Board Meeting.  The Planning Board will schedule a Workshop Meeting with Master Plan Consultants, etc. at the next scheduled Workshop meeting in June.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

                                                                                                                                Respectfully submitted,
