The
meeting was called to order at
The
Board discussed the revaluation progress to date. It was noted that the letters that went out
to the taxpayers last week contained incorrect lots numbers. After a discussion with Vision Appraisals, it
was the decision of the Assessors to have Vision Appraisal
send a second mailing with correct lot numbers. The corrected letters were mailed on July 18th,
late in the afternoon.
It
was noted that the hearings will be starting on July 21 at the Community Center
for Vision to review property assessments with those who have made
appointments. It was reported that 46
appointments were made on the first day.

Board reviewed, approved and signed the following:
a.
Timber Tax Warrant: Joyce Hammond, I1-02-01.
b.
Certification of Yield Taxes: Joyce Hammond, I1-02-01.
c.
Intent to cut Timber: George
Patterson, J3-01-11.
d.
Release from Current Use: Milton
Shirlock, H4-03-05. Based on the sale
price of $130,000 the penalty was determined to be $13,000.
The
Board reviewed and approved an invoice in the amount of $6,602.00 to be paid to
Vision Appraisal Technology.
An
invoice from Bud Noyes for services provided to the town for the mapping of
Land not in current use was reviewed and approved for payment in the amount of
$3,851.76. A motion by John Swindlehurst
to approve payment of this invoice was seconded by Tim Terragni and the vote
was in the affirmative.
A
letter from Bud Noyes regarding the mapping of the Singer Property on
The
Board discussed the non taxable properties that need to file for an annual
exemption. This would include the
churches and church property and the Historical Society properties. Applications for exemptions will be mailed to
these property owners as soon as possible.
Gravel
pits were discussed. It was noted that
Kevin McDevitt’s gravel pit was recently sold.
The board would like the new owner re-apply for gravel permits and
submit a new map of the pit area.
To
follow up on a discussion regarding the taxation of curtilage for those properties in Current use, the
motion was made by Tim Terragni to assess curtilage on current use properties
at $4500 per acre, being the same rate
for excess acres used for those properties without current use. The motion was seconded by Bryan Clark and
the vote was all in favor, motion carried.
There
being no further business the Board of Assessors adjourned their meeting at
9:00
pm.
