Dunbarton Technology Committee
December 10, 1996 Meeting
Agenda
The main purpose of this special meeting is to
interview Irene Thalheimer and Martha Rae regarding the
town's needs for software.
Attendees
- Glenn Doten
- Linn Kurkjian
- Chip Peters
Discussion
The meeting began at 7:00 PM.
Town Clerk's Work -- Irene Thalheimer
Irene uses a 100% paper-based, self-contained system
to process the following town transactions:
- Automobile registrations, renewals, transfers,
titles -- it is not required that Dunbarton be
on-line with the state in order to perform these
transactions.
- Dog licenses -- police get a copy of these
transactions.
- Irene is looking in to becoming a car agent so
she can process license plate stickers.
- Access to the Red Book (either a paper copy or an
on-line copy) is required to perform most of the
above transactions. The Reb Book is published by
Intertec Publishing, National Market Reports.
- The ledger contains every transaction Irene
performs (this is the "case book").
Tax Collector's Work -- Martha Rae
Martha's work is partially automated and consists
primarily of:
- Handling the daily mail.
- Handling calls from realtors (re: closings),
bankers (re: leans), lawyers (re: closings).
- Looking up house information monthly by lot
number.
- Creating tax bills -- this is automated.
- The tax billing program is also used by Steve
Allen who works for the state our of Concord.
He's a freelancer for Dunbarton. Martha would
like to "get rid of this program" --
the number of reports required for the state and
selectmen. Any of the three vendor's packages
being looked at so far automate all of this work.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 PM.
Action Items
- Chip -- contact some neighboring towns to
determine the software they use and how they like
it.
Next Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January
16, 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Elementary School's conference
room. Then from 8:00 to 8:30 PM in the Town Offices
building with the Selectmen.
Note that these minutes are available at the town
office as well as on the World Wide Web at http://www.ci.dunbarton.nh.us/
in the Technology Committee section.
