Website feedback:  Jeff N.  checked website referred to Rec regarding Mission Statements.

The Rec’s Mission Statement in the Policies/Procedures draft covers the items mentioned in the website.

Public Comment:  Draft of Recreation’s Policies and Procedures was handed out.

Linda and Bill Morse commented on the Mission Statement.  They had submitted the website for information.  They stated that some kids not coming to games/ practices is a problem.  Rec feels that we need to reach out to all kids. The Morses commented that the basketball league is a hostile environment.  Jeff Nelson stated that he has been involved in sports for over 20 years and this year was the worst experience ever.  At the 7/8 boys level the attitude from coaches, players and parents was poor.  It was the first time he has had a parent yelling at him.  No other refs wanted to ref those games.  He could hear parents saying stuff.  There were no problems at the other levels of the program.   Jean L. commented that she heard negative comments from another town regarding the attitudes of the players of one of the 7/8 boys teams.  Terri F. said that she received numerous calls with very positive feedback for the program.  Jeff N. said there was a lot of bad blood from the start of the season and the bottom line is are the kids getting what we want them to have.  At the rec level coaches need to motivate players.  Linda Morse asked about accountability for Rec members.  Annie C. stated we are sworn in and held to the Code of Ethics for the town.  AnnieC. asked the Morses if there was anything else in the letter they sent to Rec that they wanted to talk about.  They both said they had their answers and were ok with it.

Softball Update:  Softball equipment and uniforms have been inventoried.  Will need some new pants and some new jerseys next year.  Little League will require face guards for batters next season.  Possible car wash fundraiser suggested.

Policies and Procedures draft:  Combine first 2 sentences of Mission Statement and put town address on registration form.

Jeff N. made a motion to accept the Dunbarton Recreation Sports Programs Policies and Procedures as the final draft.  Seconded by Terri F.  Motion passed unanimously.  Rec will present the final draft to Selectmen for their feedback and support and then schedule a public hearing in the interest of reaching out and including everyone.  Terri Francoeur will inquire if we can meet with the Selectmen next Thurs.

Meeting adjourned at 8:55. The July meeting is TBD and may follow the public hearing.

Respectfully submitted for the Committee,

Jean Leo
