Dunbarton Recreation Commission

Minutes of January 24, 2006

Minutes are subject to final approval at the next meeting.

Meeting was called to order at 7:35pm.

Present:  Annie Carney, Terri Francoeur, Karen Lessard, Kim Vaillancourt, Jeff Nelson, Jean Leo

Halloween Review:  Received positive feedback from many people.  Children enjoyed the format that has been followed for past several years.  Jeremy Belanger (and friends) did an awesome job with the Haunted Walk.  He will be off to college next year.  Annie will look into getting help from Goffstown High School drama students.

Tree Lighting:  Dean Jore coordinated the event.  Everything went smoothly and the kids had fun - even the weather was good.  We need to make sure the lights are taken down.  In the future, we will look into possibly purchasing a santa suit.

Town Budget:  Moved the line item for $2500 for fireworks that was in town budget to the Recreation budget.  Keeps all Old Home Day budget items together.  Kim suggested to selectmen that the amount may need to be increased in upcoming years.

Invoice procedure:  All expenditures need to be approved by Rec.  Karen will compile expenditure reports each month and e-mail to members.

Basketball:  Season is going well except for one of the 5/6 boys teams is “running up the score”.  The coaches have been spoken with in regards to this matter.  Jeff N. drafted a memo to be sent from Rec and the Basketball Program Directors to the coaches reiterating our Policies and Procedures regarding the Coaches” Code of Conduct section.  The memo also recommends steps to be taken when the team’s lead expands beyond 15 – 20 points.  Jeff N. made a motion to include the memo in the minutes. Seconded by Kim.  Vote was unanimous.

Easter Breakfast: Annie will coordinate this event to be held on Saturday, April 15.  Terri and Jean will inventory easter supplies before March 15.

Other:  Terri F. suggested all correspondence be reviewed by members before being sent.  Jean L. suggested timely response would be appreciated.

Next meeting is scheduled for March 30th at 7:30 at the Police Station.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:05pm.

Respectfully submitted for the Committee,

Jean Leo
