DUNBARTON HISTORICAL AWARENESS COMMITTEE

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2008

AT THE DUNBARTON TOWN OFFICES

PRESENT:  Ken Swayze, Donna Dunn, Les Hammond, Bill and Rebecca Rolke.

Guest:  Dunbarton resident Laraine Allen.

THE NOYES COLLECTION:  A number of months ago, Bud Noyes had held a meeting at the Noyes home, where some DHAC members and other Dunbarton residents were shown copies of town-related historical documents.  Bud spoke about the “Noyes Collection” being used for further study of Dunbarton’s history by interested parties.

At this evening’s DHAC meeting, discussion ensued regarding the future care and storage of the collection.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  Les had received a check from Betty Ann Noyes, given on Bud’s behalf.  It was Bud’s wish that the funds be used for historical archives. The committee is extremely grateful to Bud and Betty Ann for this generous donation.

Bill reported that Bud had managed three accounts at the Merrimack Savings Bank:

1.       Where Settlers Feet Have Trod.

2.      Hadley-Tucker Collection.

3.      Dunbarton Historical Awareness Committee.

Recently, there were a number of donations made in memoriam of Bud.  Bill Rolke, DHAC Treasurer, has set up an “archives account” at Merrimack Savings, and deposited these checks, along with the check received from Betty Ann.

COBBLER SHOP:  Donna had large-scale prints made from a glass negative of the cobbler shop.  The details that are revealed are amazing, and will be studied further.

The shop has been detached from the shed in Goffstown where it has been for many years.  The day is fast approaching for the move to a new temporary home in Dunbarton; fittingly on the grounds of the first home Bud Noyes designed and lived in with his family.

NEXT MEETING:  Monday, November 24, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Rebecca Rolke

Chair and Secretary
