DUNBARTON HISTORICAL AWARENESS COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF MEETING HELD MONDAY, AUGUST 25, 2008
AT THE DUNBARTON TOWN OFFICES
PRESENT: Ken Swayze, Stan Hallinan, Donna Dunn, Bill and Rebecca Rolke. Also present were Dunbarton resident Mike Malloy and Dunbarton Town Clerk Linda Peters.
HADLEY-TUCKER COLLECTION: Donna brought an album for review by the committee, Mike, and Linda. The postcards, photos and ephemera are in some cases of unknown locations and people. Some Dunbarton residents have identified some items. Many postcards are of Manchester and Goffstown. Mike reviewed some of the items, and said some may have some value, such as views of “dead” post offices.
For items not related to Dunbarton, the suggestion was made to offer them to other town historical societies. These could possibly be bartered for items which relate to Dunbarton. If there were sales, profits could be used for additional preservation materials for the collection.
The purpose of a possible deaccenssion of materials would be to eliminate the need to conserve and store items which do not pertain to Dunbarton’s history or citizens.
COBBLER SHOP: Donna has raised $2570. toward the restoration effort. She is working on additional fund-raising ideas, such as jam-making.
OLD HOME DAY: The DHAC will have a table of cobbler shop and other historical materials.
TREASURER: Bud Noyes recently resigned as Treasurer of the DHAC. The committee thanks him for his years of service.
Bill Rolke was nominated by Ken. This was seconded by Donna. Bill was elected as the new treasurer.
NEXT MEETING: Monday, September 22, 2008, at 7:30 p.m.; at the Dunbarton Town Offices.
Respectfully submitted,
Rebecca Rolke,
Chair and Secretary
