Dunbarton Ethics Committee

Minutes of meetings are subject to final approval at the next scheduled meeting.

Present: Nick Holmes, Brett St. Clair, Brigitte Cook, Gary McCubbin and Jackie Kennedy

Brett called the meeting to order at 7:45 pm.

Motion to accept the minutes of April 28, 2005 was made by Gary, second Brett. Motion passed.

There was no mail or new business.

Working session: The committee discussed how to be more specific on when one should recuse him/herself, and action taken thereafter. Suggest that training sessions will include broader emphasis on situations requiring recusal.

How do we improve our forms? Be more specific by adding examples on the complaint form for exhausting all remedies within town government. These will be added to our forms.

How do we improve our web page? Rearrange our page so that the Code of Ethics, Hearing Rules, forms and Ethics Opinion #2002-01 appears before the minutes of meetings. Motion by Nick to remove any documents from the Ethic Committee web page that has been authored by other committees. Second Brett, motion passed.

There was discussion on summer meetings. The committee will not meet during July and August. If a business matter comes before the committee during this time, a meeting will be scheduled. Our regularly scheduled meetings will resume September 22, 2005.

The next committee meeting will be held June 23, 2005.

Motion to adjourn by Gary second by Nick. Motion passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 pm.
