CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING

MINUTES: September’s minutes were accepted

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Kimball Pond Conservation Area (KPCA)

 

Blazing of boundaries

 

On Saturday, September 13th, Conservation Commission (CC) members blazed trees along several boundaries.  On Sunday, October 5th, these blazes were painted blue. The remaining property lines are more obscure but will be located by Jacques Belanger or one of his associates.

 

Scenic Road signs

 

George Holt reported that he has spoken to the supplier of the town’s road signs.  He can provide small signs to mount above the current road signs at a cost of $12.00 each.  Other options will also be sought out and discussed at the next meeting.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Milfoil problem at Gorham Pond

 

Residents, Louis DeBerio, Lucien Costa, and Barbara Perkins, met with the commission to ask for the CC’s help with their fight to control this invasive species.  George Holt volunteered to gather more information and to contact the Department of Environmental Services (DES).

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

October 10, 2003 (Friday) – Steve Walker (Office of Sate Planning and Energy) to walk the KPCA, meet at the town offices at 8 AM

October 29, 2003 (Wednesday) – DRED to walk KPCA between 3 and 4:30 PM, M. Watkins to lead tour
