CONSERVATION COMMISSION MEETING

 

DATE: December 10, 2003

 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Brett St. Clair, Darlene Jarvis, George Holt, Ron Jarvis, Matt Lavey, Margaret Watkins

 

MEMBERS ABSENT: Larry Cook, Jacques Belanger

 

MINUTES: November’s minutes were accepted

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

Derrick LaBranch/status of Whipple Road

 

Mr. LaBranch did not attend this meeting.  A motion was made to ratify the commission’s position regarding Whipple Road as stated in the letter sent to Mr. LaBranch.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Status of local projects/Wetland Bureau updates

 

DiPietrio Homes – the developer was asked to send the Wetlands Bureau a modified plan and updated wetlands application.  Margaret Watkins will work to get the same sent to the CC 

 

Kimball Pond Conservation Area

 

Gravel pit off of Kimball Pond Road

 

Ron Jarvis and Brett St. Clair flagged the esker on November 16, 2003.  Bob Lee has submitted a proposal to remove the timber for a sum of $1000.  Ron was asked to contact John Williamson in order to obtain another estimate.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Future development of local golf course

 

Don Lane and Lyle Folkestad of the Watch Hill Development Group informally met with the commission to share their plans to build a retirement community on the 270 acre golf course property on Route 13.

 

Commission’s report due soon for annual Town Report

 

Brett St. Clair will ask CC’s chair to draft the report due January 11, 2004.  Margaret Watkins suggested that the report include a summarization of the direction the commission is taking in regards to the Kimball Pond property

 

Maps produced by the Society for the Protection of NH Forests

 

After examining a map of the Piscataquog Watershed members present voted to expend $200.00 to have a similar map developed by the SPNHF contingent on other towns desiring the expanded version.  The map would help determine which areas in town are most important from a wildlife standpoint.  Margaret Watkins will contact the other towns that would benefit from having this map produced.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

 

December 11, 2003, 7:30 PM - Informal meeting of Selectmen, Planning Board, Zoning Board and Conservation Commission to discuss Gile Road (scenic road) and plans for a PRD on it

Received from Scott Warriner – annual report on maintenance he performed on the rental property during 2003
